Fixers are warming up for Repair Day across the globe
With two months to go, International Repair Day feels like it’s right around the corner. So, we thought we’d share some inspiration and ways to get involved.
For Repair Day’s 10th birthday, we’re encouraging groups to focus their celebrations around how repair brings us together. We’re pleased to see that organisers have taken this idea and run with it. Hundreds of events have already been added to our global map including an XL Repair Cafe in Bühl, a maker fair in Brno, repair activities with schools in California, repair festivals in London and Portsmouth, textile workshops at the Museum of Making in Derby, and a city-wide repair festival in Vienna.
Need more inspiration?
In previous years, fixing collaborations have come in the form of: repair groups hosting booths at expositions aimed at getting young people into STEM; repairers delivering activities at local Scouts and Girlguides sessions; repair businesses holding public open days to showcase how they perform repairs; repair groups teaching kids to fix their school supplies; universities holding online webinar series, inviting experts from various fields to talk about topics related to repair and maintenance; groups holding film festivals and photography exhibitions on repair.
Whether you’re a community repair group, a local authority, a university or school, a repair business, a sharing library, a makerspace or fablab, or a cultural or environmental organisation not yet involved in repair, Repair Day can be for you!
The Repair Day toolkit will guide you through planning an event and who to reach out to to make it happen. It’s now available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish; we want it to be as accessible as possible, so please drop us an email if you can help translate it into your language.
It includes not only tips and tricks for planning an event, but also promotional posters and social media assets. Even if you can’t get involved in person, help us get the word out by posting about Repair Day on your social media channels using #RepairDay.

In September, a press release template will be added to the toolkit so that you can spread awareness even further by getting media coverage of your event.
If you still want to learn more about Repair Day, we’ll be holding a repeat of our spring webinar on 10th September at 11am BST. You can register for the call here.
